Gender Affirming Care Assessments and Letters for LGBTQ+ folks in New Jersey
Assessments and Letters of support for LGBTQ+ adults across New Jersey who are seeking gender affirming care
Often, it’s a requirement for folks to have a letter written by a mental health professional that makes a case for Gender Dysphoria and communicates the medical necessity of a gender affirming care procedure.
I offer gender affirming care assessments and letters both for ongoing clients and people who may not be able to afford ongoing therapy but are in a place to pursue gender affirming care and need a letter of support.
Being able to support people in getting the care they need to live peacefully in their bodies is an honor that I can’t truly describe in words. It brings me a sense of awe and always makes me smile to think about the moment I share the letter that gets folks one step closer to being who they’ve always been.
If you’re interested in scheduling an assessment to obtain a letter of support, fill out a contact form and I will reach out.
FAQs
What will we talk about during the gender affirming care assessment?
I will ask about your experience of gender and gender dysphoria. We’ll talk about what makes you euphoric and how gender affirming care will contribute to that. I always explore what supports a person has in place and discuss any concerns that may arise. I make sure that the individual understands the steps involved in receiving care and answer questions that individuals have.
How long is the gender affirming care assessment?
I reserve an hour for the assessment to be conducted.
When will I receive the completed gender affirming care letter?
I typically have the letter written within 48 hours following the assessment and send a signed PDF of the letter to an agreed upon email.
Do you charge for revisions if they are necessary?
No. No additional charges beyond the $200 fee which includes the assessment and letter of support.
Do I have to identify as Transgender to receive gender affirming care?
No, you do not. Non-binary individuals and many cis individuals decide to pursue gender affirming care. Insurance has it’s own requirements for covering surgery and I write letters in a way that supports insurance coverage with the consent and collaboration of the individual seeking gender affirming care.
Where is the gender affirming care assessment conducted?
Virtually, via my HIPPA compliant platform.
